Training - API-570 Preparatory Course

The API-570 certification lends creditability to the inspector in that he has the basic skills to perform inspection on piping assemblies and related components. As clients struggle to complete their inspections using competent inspection personnel, the API-570 Piping Inspector becomes a more sought after individual. Certification alone does not guarantee an accurate assessment of a fluid carrying component, but it does ensure that the inspector has a basic knowledge of what constitutes a good piping system.

The Base Line Data, Inc. API-570 Preparatory Course is designed to enhance a student's knowledge of piping systems and to prepare them for the API examination. A candidate must be familiar with t-min calculations; Corrosion Mechanisms, Weld Discontinuities, Pipe Inspection Requirements, ASME Section IX, ASME B31.3 Construction Code, ASME B16.5 and much more. Piping delivers many different types of fluid, some of which are environmentally sensitive and others highly volatile. Pipelines which may look good from the outside could have active erosion or corrosion wearing away the pressure containment capability of the system.

The API-570 Preparatory Course covers in detail the Body of Knowledge that one must be familiar with to pass this examination. Both day and night class alternatives are available. A minimum of fifteen (15) students is necessary for the class to formt. The nighttime course consists of two three-hour nights/week for a total of eight (8) weeks. This nighttime course will allow plenty of time for reading and performing homework assignments for preparation. The daytime course will consist of eight (8) hours a day for five (5) days. The daytime courses are for those who are already familiar with the material, but need some reinforcement. Both courses will prepare students for the examination. The cost of the course will cover the training and classroom handout material only. All code material and API exam fees are the responsibility of the student. These courses are offered at least four times a year and the dates, pricing and sign-up can be accessed through the posted schedule.
